HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL (ABOUT US)

Welcome to Langham Girls High School

A Legacy of Faith, Excellence, and Empowerment

Nestled in the serene countryside of Chiweshe, between Mvurwi and Centenary in the Mazowe District of Mashonaland Central, Langham Girls High School stands as a proud Anglican institution dedicated to shaping confident, disciplined, and academically capable young women.

Our journey is rooted in a remarkable heritage of empowerment. The Langham story began in 1847, not as a formal school, but as a Home Craft Centre founded by Catherine Langham, a devoted Anglican with a heart for the girl child. Her mission was simple yet transformative: to nurture young women through practical skills, dignity, and faith.

This spirit of care and development guided our growth through the decades. In 1984, the centre became a Missionary Secondary School, expanding its academic mandate under the Anglican Diocese. By 2002, Langham had proudly evolved into a full-fledged High School offering both “O” and “A” Level education. Through every phase, Catherine Langham’s foundational vision has remained at the core of who we are.

Today, Langham Girls High School continues to uphold a culture of excellence.
We offer:

  • A well-equipped computer laboratory that strengthens digital literacy.
  • A disciplined and structured environment grounded in strong Christian values.
  • A leadership ethos guided by our dedicated headmaster, who ensures focus and high standards across the school.

Cleanliness, responsibility, and order are deeply embedded in our culture. Students maintain their own environment—including cleaning their own toilets—fostering independence, respect, and accountability. Daily inspections are conducted before lessons begin to reinforce discipline and pride in the school.

We invite you to discover Langham Girls High School—
where young women are empowered to excel in mind, body, and spirit, becoming tomorrow’s confident leaders.
